Zox Corsa R Helmet, Tinted visor, Lettering.
Gateway International Raceway hosted the King of the Track Shootout July 11 after eliminations in the Championship Bracket Series. After Tim Foley (Super Pro), Steve Zuener (Street ET), Bob Westhoff (Pro ET), and Denny Slusser (Pro Bike) took home the trophy in their respective classes the four drivers competed in a ladder against each other to take home a Wally and the bragging rights of being that come with being the King of the Track.
Adding to the excitement of KOTT is that it is the only race of the year that a motorcycle can go down the drag strip side by side with a car or dragster.
Slusser took on Zuener in the first round match up at King of the Track. The race ended quickly as the slower dialed in Dodge Dakota of Zuener left before the green light giving Slusser an easy ride into the final on his Crossbones Motorsports, Bud's Service center sponsored Suzuki Hayabusa.
In the final Slusser lined up against Foley for the KOTT. Slusser dialed a 9.81 against Foley’s 8.35. Slusser had a better reaction time a .055 against Foley’s .093. Down track Slusser would use the starting line advantage to force Foley to drive his 2004 Wonderlieh built dragster to break out. Slusser would run a 9.816, just .006 over his dial in.
To get to the King of the Track the drivers first had to win in their classes. Slusser got to the final round after facing Marcus Taylor in first round. Taylor had problems and coasted down track while Slusser lifted to avoid breaking out.
In second round Slusser took out Dusty Katich. Slusser took the win by running just .007 seconds over his dial and in the next round ran just .008. Slusser won the final round over Bob Pannell. The drivers had even reaction times of .038. At the finish line it was a double breakout. Slusser ran .016 under his dial while Pannell ran .018 under his own, giving the Pro Bike win to Slusser.
